Maine Outdoor Brands Trend Talk #4: How has COVID-19 changed outdoor recreation participation?
The Maine Center and Maine Outdoor Brands
- Scott Bahr, Cairn Consulting Group
- Rex Turner, Outdoor Recreation Planner, Maine Bureau of Parks and Lands
We’ve all seen reports of packed trailheads and beaches. Since the onset of COVID-19, there has been a shift in the attitude and behavior of people looking to get outside while social distancing. In early May, a survey of U.S. residents revealed the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on behaviors and attitudes toward outdoor recreation, as well as expectations of changes that are now part of their outdoor experiences. Scott Bahr and Rex Turner will join us to discuss the most recent data and trends.
About the series:
“Trend Talks” is a new Maine Outdoor Brands (MOB) series on outdoor industry trends and insights. The spring segment of the series will be delivered online to ensure the safety of participants and to make these topics as accessible as possible to businesses and organizations statewide. We hope to offer the fall segment of the series with both online and in-person options. This series was developed by MOB and the University of Maine Graduate and Professional Center.
