Prepare to lead and make an impact on this world. Our affordable, flexible, nationally-recognized graduate programs prepare students for successful careers in public health, public and nonprofit management, community planning and public policy.

Muskie students enjoy small class sizes, personal relationships with world-class professors and unparalleled access to internship and research opportunities. Our certificates and degrees are well-suited to working professionals looking to trial what it means to go back to school and who may need to take classes in the evenings or complete their degree on a part-time basis. Many classes are offered online and four of our certificates can be completed 100% online.

We are committed to providing quality, affordable graduate education: in-state students benefit from our low in-state tuition and we now offer reduced tuition rates out-of-state students as well.

Dr. Erika Ziller, chair of Public Health at USM
Dr. Erika Ziller is Chair of Public Health at USM, where she teaches in both the BS and MPH programs. She began her career as a social worker in rural Maine where she quickly realized that many of the challenges facing her clients were exacerbated by health and social policies that were unresponsive to their needs. Since then, Dr. Ziller has been committed to policy-informed research aimed at improving health care access for underserved populations, particularly rural residents through her work as Director of the Maine Rural Health Research Center. She grew up in small-town Maine and obtained her PhD in public policy from the University of Southern Maine in 2012.
